Success without a successor is failure. The success of any leader is measured by their ability to pass on the mantle to another. Our model of succession planning is not limited to business organisations but even to individuals, homes, personal enterprise, churches, community organisation to ensure that our dreams do not die when we move on to other things or another life. An individual or organisation with no system to recreate itself and pass on key ‘DNA’ will inevitably die. Corporate history is littered with one generation wonder companies which failed to plan for succession, hence “died” when the visionary left.
